The initiative unites public and private sectors to educate, empower, and support communities against rising threats.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) introduced Know2Protect, a nationwide campaign bringing public and private sector partners together to prevent online child exploitation and abuse. The initiative intends to educate and empower young people, parents, and trusted adults in recognizing and avoiding exploitation both online and offline as well as providing support resources for victims.
“All of us, working together, must protect our children from the heinous and growing crime of online child sexual exploitation and abuse. The tragic reality is that, as young people spend more time online, predators around the world increasingly target them through manipulation and deceit,” said Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The campaign is a response to the rise in online child sexual exploitation and abuse—with over 36 million reports received in 2023 alone—and seeks to mobilize communities and law enforcement to address this critical issue.
